The Library has subscriptions to a number of online databases.

Access to information through electronic databases is integral to education today. Online databases provide ready and easy access to current, reliable and authoritative data and information that is so crucial to today’s style of teaching and learning.

 

*       Most of these databases have remote access.

 

AusLit contains information, critiques and bibliographical information on 78,000 Australian authors.

 

Read Plus is a collection of selected books and films arranged under themes. This web site provides reviews and resources on books for young people. No password is required with the school network but for home access a password can be obtained from Library Staff.

 

 

Electric Library will give you access to full text magazine and
newspaper articles. Even though it is an international database
most Australian newspapers are accessible.

For home access a password can be obtained from Library Staff.

 

 

Encyclopedia Britannica database which provides access to
encyclopedia articles, video and audio clips, learning and
teaching materials, an atlas, dictionary, thesaurus and
biographical database. The College has a site license to
Britannica Online. This service is now extended to home access. A password can be obtained from Library Staff.

 

Echo Contemporary Media Issues. Echo gives you access to
the background and subsequent arguments revolving around
current issues that appear in the media.

 

 

Current Information Services This online index compliments the hard copies of the periodicals Current Social Issues and Current Environmental Issues that are housed in the library.

Curriculum Exchange provides teaching and learning materials from the Queensland Education Department. The site provides the College with current directions in productive pedagogies and curriculum initiatives. There are also resources aimed at teachers’and students’ educational needs.
We have an unlimited site license to this database.

 

 

Students and staff will require passwords to access these databases.
Ask the Library staff or procure a Online Database brochure available at the front desk of the Library.

If you are a member of the Brisbane City Council, it is possible to access a myriad of databases through BCC online reference library site. Use your id which is obtainable from the back of the membership card.
