Role of the Library

  • The Library at Brigidine supports the spiritual, academic and community programs of the College.
  • The Library strives to reflect the values of the College Mission by providing an environment that is caring and mindful of the individual needs and capabilities of all members of the College community.
  • The Library acknowledges its role in supporting the Curriculum and endeavours to provide the necessary resources to support and enhance the learning and teaching programs.
  • The Library recognizes that reading and literacy are critical to the development of the student to foster and encourage life long learning. As such, the collection includes a diverse range of both academic and recreational print and non print resources.
  • The Library provides information skills programs to ensure students have the necessary skills to discriminate and synthesise data from multiple sources and to manage information effectively in order transform it into knowledge.
  • The Library seeks to adopt information and communication technologies in order to create an authentic environment which will in turn enhance the learning and teaching process for students.
  • The Library seeks to provide a stimulation and scholarly environment in which every student and staff member feels comfortable and supported.
