At Brigidine we purposely lay the foundations for a rewarding life and our young women do the rest.
Discover how a Brigidine education is strong on academic achievement, gentle in the tradition of the Brigidine Sisters and generous with opportunities. Our learning community has a strong foundation, an exciting future and fully focussed on girls. Here are the reasons why a Brigidine College education is so valued.
Listen to what our Parents say
Our young women bravely become the women they want to be.
Our teaching style and format is uniquely tailored to young women going through the adolescent years. Teachers model and encourage learning experiences and analytical skills, so young women shape their own learning into the future. Our teaching builds on young womens’ abilities to be strong in communications, collaboration and creativity by adding critical thinking, interactive and independent learning to ensure they develop into well-rounded students with a highly skilled approach to learning and teamwork.
Leadership and Role Models
At Brigidine College, we believe that girls have greater opportunities and perform better in an all girls school environment. We provide students with extensive opportunities and brilliant role-modelling opportunities as part of their high school journey. Leadership opportunities begin in Year 9 and earlier, for those who want to be part of College Committees and leadership groups.
From sport offerings to interschool competitions, immersion programs, work experience, excellence programs, VET pathways and tertiary educational engagement, our students have unparalleled opportunities to develop across all areas of their life and to gain a true appreciation of life beyond school.
Applied social justice is one of the hallmarks of Brigidine College. Each month our students take on projects to raise awareness and provide practical assistance to charities and causes that they believe in and are passionate about. Our young women understand humanity and the responsibility that goes with being able to help the most vulnerable. More importantly, they get to experience the rewarding and far-reaching impacts of assisting others. In this way, our students grow into compassionate, confident women, aware of and capable of making a difference in the world.
Brigidine follows a learning paradigm to develop each students’ ability in five key areas that will enhance their learning of any subject and approach to any endeavour. These 21st Century skills include: Self Reflection, Collaboration, Effective Communication, Independence, Flexibility and Adaptability.
The Year 7 and 9 NAPLAN results are consistently 96-100% above national standard, an indication of our students’ engagement with teachers and their studies.
Every year, 97% of Year 12 graduates, who apply for tertiary entrance in Queensland are offered a place. In 2020, 100% of applicants received offers and last year 98% received offers. We are delighted for them, as we know how hard they work. With effective study skills, weekly tutorial lessons and focused individual learning plans, Brigidine students are ready to succeed in all forms of assessment as part of the QCE/ATAR programs.
Many senior students enrich their learning also gain VET qualifications in Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma courses.
A number of students each year take on the opportunity to commence university subjects at the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and the University of Southern Queensland.
